I know before you start blaming me for this thread, as it is of no use, I would like to point out that most of you must be experiencing the same thing. I didn't care much for Visa bulletin until it became current for EB2 two weeks back. As the time progress, I am doing all sorts of things, like checking USCIS case status, and checking everything that can possibly give me some information. I know that it is waste of time, I know it is not good for health, I know that I will get GC when time comes, but still, my mind is tricking me to think about it. I checked all these forums until 2A.M last night. I am not having enough sleep. I am waiting for a opportunity to get rid of my desi employer. I am really getting frustrated (I am not saying that I have been waiting for GC approval desperately). I just want to share my frustration and what I have been going through. I know I am in a better position than most of other people whose priority date is not even current. I wish they never dangled a carrot in front of me. I am not sure if they disappoint me next month, but I am still keeping my hopes. Hopefully, I would get over this and have enough sleep from today.

Although this issue does affect our lives and every few days we get out of our normal daily routine and think more about future plans, then all of a sudden we see GC roadblock stopping our every plan/progress, and we tend to become extra worried about it, go out searching for all the knowledge available to answer our questions, and in the process become worried and spend a few sleepless nights. It seems that this may be happening in your situation too, just a guess. If the answer is yes, then you have come to the right place and there are many more in the similar situation here. They may not admit this, they may be rude or nasty to you taking offense from the words you chose to post/reply on this forum, or sometimes you take an offense from what they have to say to you, but we are all in the same boat under similar circumstances. If nothing else, atleast that's the consolation you can take from this thread.

I still have not received mine yet. I am pretty sure that our FP generation has some problem due to some glitch in their system.

2) It's sad that we are getting GCs at the expense of people of came here illegally. Our efforts are held hostage by both parties (It's simple), One party wants to win votes of one group and the other wants to wins votes as well of a different group. It's not about "DOING THE RIGHT THING". If it was about "DOING THE RIGHT THING" there would never had been a backlog. Backlog elimination center was created just to put some cases on hold and clear cases of 245i applicants (USCIS will never allow us access to that data)
3) DOING THE RIGHT THING....why unequal penalties of the parties who break the immigration Law. All punishment is directed towards the employee. EMployer only gets fine. Make punishment stricter for employers, (hit them where it hurts most, jail them and shut down their business)there will never be any illegal immigrant getting jobs. there whould be equal punishment for both.
4) Why this doble standard when it comes to immigration. why don't people oppose when jobs are transferred in name of outsroucing or shifting production to cheapr countries? Anti Immigants are biggest Hypocrites ever and Pro immigrants are not representins immigrants properly. No one focuses on the injsutice done to legal aliens.
5) I am EB3, I followed Law, I am in backlog because Govt did not process the cases in 2001 , 2002, 2003 in time and created a backlog and I resisted the temptation to break laws and buy Labor substitution AND I openly say that I oppsoe illegal immigration and amesty to illegeal immigrants (and I do feel sorry for them. god bless them they deserve a better life).

How was the response? I have contacted the following " The Hindu, Deccan chronicle and some telugu and kannada newspapers and TV news channels" so far no responses, I am planning to speak to my dad and his friends (they retired from the news media recently) to get some responses, but whats the point. The July 2nd fiasco was very well publicized in India, rural India too, even a small village or mandal office issuing birth certificates knew abt the visa bulletin and its reversal!!! and what do we have now...non committal friends who are not interested to come to the rally and some even make fun of it!!

Let us focus on the rally and recapture of visa numbers. This more important to all than fighting out the LS issues and finding fault it is not our issue. If the LS guys gets rejects, they deserve it for not using their own Labor, and they a price for the same. Let us not beat them with a stick and focus on what can be done now.
Let us not build hatred against anyone, this can only undermine our efforts. You never know, heard FBI Checks are strict on LS folks, hope that is true, atleast genuine filers get it based on their PD, so be 2001 or 2002 as long as they are the original beneficiary.

In Dallas (Las Collinas), if you dont have medical insurance, you can have an arrangement with the Doctor and Hospital.
Like one of my friend paid 3K for everything for Delivery + 5K I think for the hospitals. Ofcourse this is based on the delivery is not complicated / C-section couple of years ago.

You may admire them as much as you want but fact is these are just "glorified" bodyshoppers. I meet many workers from these "great" companies at my workplace and see them being treated just as "low cost alternatives" and nothing else by this huge financial company in NY/NJ area. Because of their (INFY, TATA, Wipro, Satyam) "low billing rates" these guys cant afford good lifestyle. And back home in India INFY and TATA CEOs make billions and talk BIG. I've not met any TATA, Satyam guy here who is happy with their employer. They just hate their employers and always looking for a change. I wonder where they stand in terms of employee satisfaction? They treat their people like slave and send them as low cost labor. Not only that - they exploit US immigration rules and make use of L1 to keep their people long term at cliant place when they dont get enough H1.
No difference from local bodyshoppers! Dont think they are great companies. You may say "you folks are frustrated with these companies". But this is the fact. Period.

Some of what you have said is correct that the employers are not paid same as what IBM US employers get (and of course what some consultants get). Some of the issues are working off-late hours and coordination effort etc.
The positive side of these companies is
1) Career advancement - One can really grow into lead and managerial positions if they have the aptitude
2) Technical Career Paths are there for those who are technically inclined.
3) Benefits - There are good benefits which usually may not be there for those working for desi-consultants
4) Support from a large pool of knowledge - If I face any issue, I post it in my company help forum, there will be many responses,some real good ones within a day.
5) More job security - companies are not yet used to down-sizing. In hard times, there could be some salary rationalization (which I think is OK - better than losing job) and increased utilization (again doesn't mean more work from individual it means optimal bench strength)
6) Growth - While it is debatable whether it can sustain the rupee strengthening or not, unless the company 's strategy is very narrow, nobody outsource for the cost alone...Many are simply build-or-buy decisions, and based on core-competency and risk management. Deals that are struck these days are multi-year, multi-million dollar ones which will provide guaranteed business over a long periods.
Coming to those who come on L1 or H1, most of them want to get an opportunity to work at client location to better their perspective (apart from Dollar conversion). Nobody comes here by force. Their priorities are always different than most of the forum readers' Their choices are also limited. Some leave as soon as they come here (I personally interviewed at least 10 folks last year who floated their resumes as soon as they landed here), some want to go back after working here few years, some switch to H1Bs through desi-consultants, thus enter rat race, some try to grow here in their company on long term basis.
Hope this clarifies few who pity SWITCH employees..
